Late Show host Stephen Colbert celebrates the first Wednesday of public hearings in the impeachment process against President Donald Trump.
"This is what we have been praying for since the beginning of Trump's presidency," he cracked. "The End of the Trump Presidency."
Colbert noted the revelation that Bill Taylor, the acting US ambassador to Ukraine, last week learned of another Trump phone call related to Ukraine.
Taylor testifies that an employee was with Gordon Sundland, an ambassador to the European Union, during a phone call between Sundland and Trump. A staff member may hear Trump asking about "investigations."
"After speaking with President Trump, a member of my staff asked Ambassador Sondland what President Trump thought of Ukraine," Taylor testified. "Ambassador Sundland replied that President Trump was more interested in [Joe] Biden's inquiries, which [Trump attorney Rudy] Giuliani insisted on."
Colbert said this was worse than the Watergate scandal that overthrew President Richard Nixon. ̵
The Colbert Late Show team also trained Trump supporters of the GOP with a special new accessory: fact-finding headphones.
