Scarlett Johansson and a very special guest joined Anne Hathaway as some of the last celebrities to drop into the study during RuPaul’s 13th season of Drag Race.
The “Black Widow” star appeared in practice during last night’s episode to give the other five contestants some advice before their acting challenge “Henny, I Twisted the Sliding Queens!”
The 36-year-old actor introduced himself when her video appeared on the screen in the study, telling the contestants that he was a big fan of the show.
“I’m so sad I wasn’t in the study, but I’ve been dreaming of participating for a long time, so it’s really exciting for me,” she told the group, to which Rose replied, “Baby, you’re in now. the study! ”
At the end of her surprise segment, Johansson was joined by a special guest: her husband, Colin Yost. The 38-year-old Saturday Night Live star appeared on screen to ask contestants about the challenge after his wife asked if anyone had any further questions for her.
“I have a guest question,” Jost said, poking his head into the frame to joke. “The movie … will be called ‘Size Queens?’ “
Prior to Jost’s arrival, Johansson opened the floor with questions about the challenge of the day, asking contestants how to approach the challenge, including a question from Olivia Lux about how to fight imaginary monsters.
“Acting is about creating a situation that is unreal, to feel very real,” Johansson said. “So I’d say the most important thing is that you have a lot of beliefs, whether you’re fighting Thanos or something, a giant spicy heel … It comes from believing in yourself. If you don’t believe in yourself then none of the audience will not believe you. “
She also gave her wisdom to Gotmick, who asked Johansson how to stand out when the role you play is small.
“Remember, there are no small parts, there are only small ladies,” she joked. “You want to make sure that even though you don’t have that much time on screen that you’ve created the character in your mind, you have a whole story about your character so that the character feels really complete.”
The contestants were greeted with a lot of great advice from Johansson, who was the perfect celebrity for the job! Jost praised his wife for her versatility in an email interview with The Gentleman last month, writing: “Apart from being a great actor, Scarlett has ease of performance, which really helps when you do variations and you have to constantly switch between characters. “
“It’s fun, which turns out to be a big difference,” he added.
Johansson began in the same interview to discuss past controversies throughout his career. These moments include her role in The Ghost in the Shell, where she is accused of washing whites, her initial role as a transgender character in “Rub and Pull” before she pulled out, and her role in many Woody-directed films Alan.
“I made a career out of it,” she said. “I will have opinions about things, because that’s exactly what I am. I mean, it’s hard for everyone to admit when they’re wrong about things, and it can be embarrassing to go public with it all. To have the experience of “Wow, I was really obscene there, or I didn’t look at the big picture, or I was unreasonable.” I’m human too. “
