PHOENIX (3TV / CBS 5) – We are starting to see an equalization in terms of new Covid cases and hospitalizations in Arizona.
After crushing the numbers, government data shows that in the last seven days we have fallen from the peak report of about 10 thousand cases per day. This is not really good news when you are still considered the worst in the country, if not in the world … in terms of new cases.
State data may show little sign of improvement in new Covid cases, but some health experts are reluctant to agree.
“No, we should not celebrate at all. I mean, look, it̵
CBS 5 Investigates went through 15-year death records in Arizona, revealing a number of trends.
Humble said until we show that cases have been declining for weeks, only then will we have a better idea of where we are.
“We are leveling at this level, not at a good level, a terrible level. I mean, we are the global hotspot. Think about it; we are the global hotspot, “said Humble.
He believes the numbers don’t tell the whole story, that more tests still need to be done, and he’s not the only health expert to offer the exact same thing.
“Some people don’t want to know positively there because they don’t want to stay home for two weeks,” Humbell said.
Dr. Joshua LaBayer of the ASU Biodesign Center said we should run 80,000 to 100,000 tests a day.
“In this way, we stop the spread if we can get people who have the virus to stay at home,” LaBaer said.
But according to the latest data from the health department, we apply only about 25,000 tests a day, although we test more people than ever in the state.
According to the Covid Tracking Project, Arizona doesn’t do as badly when it comes to testing as it does the rest of the nation; in fact, we are 15th in the country to test per capita.
