Currently, about 2 in 5 American adults are fully vaccinated against Covid-1

9, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as the rate of new coronavirus infections continues to decline.

The U.S. averaged 2.4 million reported vaccinations per day in the past week, compared to the high point of 3.4 million daily shots on April 13.

The rate of new infections is also declining. The country reports an average of 49,000 cases a day, according to data from Johns Hopkins University, compared to more than 70,000 a few weeks ago.

About 2.1 million vaccines were reported on Sunday, averaging 2.4 million a day for seven days.

Satisfying the demand for photos is no longer the main challenge in many places, as countries face barriers to access to vaccines and fluctuations in their populations. Seventeen countries reported a reduction in photos taken for three consecutive weeks or more, according to a CNBC analysis of CDC data.

American share of the vaccinated population

Nearly 45% of Americans have received at least one dose of the vaccine, and 32% have been fully vaccinated.

Of those aged 18 and over, 56% were at least partially vaccinated and 40% were fully vaccinated.

“We’re not going to vaccinate everyone,” former food and medicine commissioner Dr Scott Gottlieb told CNBC’s Squawk Box on Monday.

“If we can vaccinate two-thirds of the population, or a little better than that, it will be a pretty good level of protection,” he said.

Cases in the US Covid

The rate of new infections has dropped to its lowest level in months, according to Hopkins. Over the weekend, the average daily new case in the United States in seven days fell below 50,000 for the first time since October.

Every day, new cases have dropped 5 percent or more in 22 states and the District of Columbia in the past week. Admission of new hospitals to patients with Covid is also declining, according to CDC data.

Elsewhere, Covid outbreaks are reaching new heights. According to the World Health Organization, India accounts for one in three new cases of coronavirus worldwide, with nearly 7 million cases reported in April.

Death in the US Covid

According to Hopkins, the United States reports an average of 683 Covid deaths per day.
