Daisy’s mother, Melinda, says her daughter took her life on Tuesday night. Her body was found after Melinda called police to check her well-being.
Melinda says … “She was my best friend and an amazing daughter. I think she had to make it look like I could live without her. I can’t. I wish I could take her pain away!”
Daisy was 14 in January 2012, when she was allegedly raped at a home party in Missouri after being showered with alcohol … although no one was ever convicted.
The 2016 Netflix document followed Daisy and her family members as they dealt with the trauma of her alleged attack and the hostile reaction of their community.
Daisy’s mother says: “She has never recovered from what these boys did to her and it’s just not fair. My girl is gone. ”The family dealt with another tragedy just last year, when Daisy’s younger brother was killed in a car accident.
Audrey and Daisy also focused on sexual assault on Audrey Pott in September 2012 in California. Audrey died of suicide 10 days later.
After her rape case, Daisy co-founded the organization SafeBAE with the mission to stop sexual assault among high school and high school students and to help survivors. The body said it was devastated by her death and “suffered irreparable loss”.
