After collecting just over 90 yards from the bout in just over two-quarters to begin Sunday’s game, Minnesota Vikings star Dalwin Cook suffered a groin injury in a third-quarter catch.

On Monday, he underwent an MRI, which Viking coach Mike Zimmer said had “gone pretty well”

;. Zimmer went on to say, “We’ll see how it goes this week,” but a later NFL Network report by Tom Pelisero was more encouraging, showing that Cook avoided a major injury, although the team may be cautious with play against the Falcons 0-5 in week 6 and goodbye in week 7.

Initially, the injury forced Cook to leave the game on Sunday and undergo an appraisal in the locker room, pushing backup Alexander Mathison to the first place to run back for the Vikings, who thought Cook was suspicious to return. Pro Bowler actually returned to the sideline – and then on the field – later in the third quarter, but not for long. Mathison quickly resumed the full load of running backwards, with Cook retreating to the side after just one more game. Coach Mike Zimmer said that after that Cook could not play with the injury. If he has to miss the time, it is assumed that Mathison will lead the back field with Michael Boone, who fills behind him.

Breaking 1,000 yards in 2019, Cook entered the affair on Sunday night as the leading ball carrier in the NFL in four weeks, with 424 yards and six touchdowns in his name. Again, after a five-year $ 63 million contract extension signed in September, it has been at the center of Minnesota’s breach for the past two years, marking 13 high-career touchdowns in 2019.

However, the injuries are not unknown to the 25-year-old back. Cook missed 19 combined games between 2017 and 2019, including 12 as a rookie and five in his second season. If they end up missing more time at the back of the Vikings, the team will rely on Mathison, their 22-year-old former third-round, as well as reserve Mike Boone and veteran full-back CJ Ham.
