When it comes to fights, former two-time UFC champion Daniel Cormier is arguably one of the greatest of all time to ever do it, but it’s how he’s carried through his entire career that makes him special.
What can you say about DC, except… he’s just a good guy.
It’s as cliché as it turns out, but it’s true. That’s why Max Holloway calls Cormier “the most human father on the planet.” He is a father who, of course, is a good man who just does great in battles.
If you know someone (other than John Jones) who actually hates DC? I will be glad to hear it.
As UFC 252 and its heavyweight title trilogy with Stipe Miocic approach, there is much speculation about Cormier and how he came to this at the age of 41
“To put yourself in a position where so many people have access to it speaks volumes about it, doesn’t it?” I remember that before the 2004 Olympics, we were directly behind the basketball team. Men’s basketball team (USA). And because of security at the time, it took several hours to get through security. We are waiting. And we were right behind them. And I remember Cormier, he went up and asked (an ultra-famous NBA player) about his autograph. And (the ultra-famous NBA player) wouldn’t even admit it. I wouldn’t look at him.
“I just remember that image of Cormier.” He asked this man to sign something for him – and the man did not even acknowledge it.
“I just thought it was really disrespectful. But I just think it shows you what kind of person Daniel is. Now Daniel is a man that everyone in the salon wants his autograph – and he still walks around freely. When he talks to someone, he looks them in the eye. He shows them respect. Although it must be exhausting for him and just a huge drain of energy. Because, yes, it’s one thing to go in there and fight with children. This is not the challenging and impressive part. He has to deal with this celebrity. “
Cormier has never forgotten that moment and seems to have played a role in how he will eventually cope with being famous. Cormier was asked about this memory during an interview with Aaron Bronstetter of TSN, and he gave an answer that summarizes the class that DC has always dealt with.
“It was bad, wasn’t it?” It was a failure, “Cormier said of the autograph snob of the NBA star, whom he declined to name. “I tried to make sure that no matter how I felt, I tried to give people a little bit of me, to make their experience enjoyable. Because you don’t know what that means for a person and you don’t know who that person will end up in.
“What if you meet the kid who will one day become president?” Do not know. What if you meet a child who just has a bad day, or an adult who has a really bad day, and you interaction can lift them? You just never know what people are going through. So I’m just trying to make sure that when people come in contact with me, the experience is enjoyable. “
I wonder if this ultra-famous NBA player remembers the time he kidnapped a future UFC champion and what he thinks of him now.
UFC 252 takes place Saturday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The basic card is paid when paying for the examination after preliminary prescriptions of ESPN / ESPN +.
