Delta bans 100 passengers from taking flights, adding them to a no-fly list for refusing to wear masks



DETROIT, Michigan (WLNS) – Last week, a Delta Air Lines flight was forced to return to the Detroit Gate when two of its customers were not wearing masks.

When it comes to the new rules for the new coronavirus, airlines like Delta take them very seriously. Delta Air Lines CEO Ed Bastian claims that Delta has included 1

00 people in its “no flight list” on mask issues.

“You can’t get on a Delta plane unless you have a mask on,” Bastian said. “If you get on a plane and insist on not wearing a mask, we insist on not throwing Delta in the future.”

Delta says its strict camouflage policies are part of efforts to promote best practices in public health and safety amid the pandemic.

In a statement to NPR, Delta wrote: “Medical research tells us that wearing a mask is one of the most effective ways to reduce the incidence of COVID-19 infection.” The airline “remains committed to requiring customers and employees to wear face mask or cover as a permanent layer of protection in all Delta sensor points’.

All major US airlines require passengers to wear face covers, but in general, adults can only remove the mask when eating or drinking, although the policy is different.

Some airlines are taking a step forward in creating new pandemic policies. Emirates Free Global Coverage for COVID-19 includes financial assistance for COVID-19 healthcare costs for those who test positive for the virus during their trip, as well as covering funeral expenses.

Delta’s flight list is fully within the scope of its rights, experts say.

The legal considerations are quite simple, says Sharona Hoffman, co-director of the Case Western Reserve University Medical Center. He simply says, “They are private business, and private business can have rules.”

As for the exceptions to the mask rule, the Delta procedure includes “a virtual consultation process facilitated by a Delta agent with a third-party medical professional. [and] it may take up to an hour. “Usually, the airline encourages customers with basic conditions that do not allow the wearing of masks to” reconsider travel completely. “

For those who land on the flight list due to mask violations, the process of removing your name is likely to vary from airline to airline, Angelis suggests. “They have to go through the necessary process and appeal to the airline.”
