Derek Chauvin: “Particular cruelty” to George Floyd should mean a harsher sentence, says Minnesota AG



Eric J. Nelson, Chauvin’s lawyer, opposes a harsher sentence for his client, saying prosecutors have not proven aggravating factors during the trial that would have caused extra time in prison. Nelson argued on Friday in a separate document in his ten-page statement that “Mr. Under Minnesota law, Chauvin is authorized to use “reasonable force” as part of what the lawyer describes as the arrest of a “suspect in criminal resistance.”
