Desperate patients in India Covid-19 are turning to the black market for drugs

Hetero Pharma, one of seven companies producing remdezivir in India, said the company was trying to increase production. The BBC found that a shortage of supplies led to black marketing of the drug in Delhi and several other cities. At least three agents contacted by the BBC in Delhi have agreed to deliver each vial of 100 mg remdezivir for Rs 24,000 ($ 320; £ 232) – five times the official price. The Ministry of Health of India recommends six doses of 100 mg vials per patient per course of treatment, but doctors say that in some cases up to eight doses are needed.
