Destiny 2: The most fascinating dialogue for searching beyond light is the result of COVID

IN Fate 2: Beyond the lightt, there is a new demand for a grenade launcher powered by Stasis, Salvation’s Grip. This is the only weapon that uses the new element and is one of the strangest exotics in the game. But the search for Salvation’s Grip also has some of the stupidest dialogues in the game: Ghost posing as The Drifter.

During the mission, the Guardians rob to steal this new prototype weapon from the fallen. And Ghost – after Drifter challenges Ghost to “sell” the Guardian’s mission – decides to pose as the wicked light-bearer, giving mocking commands with his best cosmic cowboy voice.

Below is a video of the entire rescue mission, including Ghost̵

After the launch, fans jumped to Destiny’s suburbs to share their love of mission dialogue. But according to a proven Bungie developer, Ghost makes an impression Drifter was not the original plan for this mission.

According to gunmaster95 – a proven Bungie designer at Reddit, although we are not sure who exactly is on the team – the COVID-19 pandemic prevented the voice actor of The Drifter from recording any dialogue in the mission. The Fate 2 the screenwriting team thought creatively and came up with a brilliant idea that the team has used before: just get Nolan North to do it.

Fun fact: This actually happened when, due to the complexity of things from COVID, we were unable to reserve the voice actor for Drifter for this mission, as he had to provide the radio dialogue. One of our writers had the idea instead of Ghost just pretending to be him (While Mr. North’s planning worked out better) and wrote all this great dialogue. Apparently, on the first take, Nolan perfectly imitated Drifter and had to be deliberately instructed to do worse.

North – who started voicing Ghost in 2015 Fate: The captured king as a replacement for Peter Dinklage – it was reportedly easier to get a voice from the middle of the pandemic. But according to Bungie, North was initially too good at the Drifter’s impression and had to download it so that the impression could be read as more authentic. In other words, Ghost is not as much of an impressionist as his voice actor.

This is not the first time that the North has “impressed” another hero of Fate. In 2018 Abandoned expansion, North voiced the now-deceased Hunter Vanguard Cade-6, replacing Nathan Filion for the hero’s last voyage.
