The flood in North Queensland, Australia, spilled into the Flinders river system to create the 60-kilometer "mega river" that can be seen from space.
On Wednesday, the Bureau of Meteorology said the river system "is currently experiencing its biggest flood in at least 50 years."
"The amount of rainfall is stunning," said Rob Sharp, Sky News's meteorologist. "More than 500 mm of rain has spread out in an extensive area – 300 km and 200 km north.
