Last Friday, Netflix's adaptation of Gerard Way's The Umbrella Academy comic book series finally hit our screens.
We binged the lot in one go and we learned hell of a lot – but we are clearly not as eagle-eyed as the people of Reddit, who spotted some sweet easter eggs throughout the series.
Most notably, in the first episode of the show, The Umbrella Academy's creator Gerard is featured on the back of Vayna Hargreeves' autobiography, and there's even a little made-up quote from the man himself about it. At the Umbrella Academy's black carpet premiere in Hollywood last week, Gerard talked about the message of his whole story.
The musician and writer told Variety that his message was that "we're all screwed up and that we'll have a easier time if we do it together."
"I was reading a lot of things like Grant Morrison comics and Grant Morrison's Doom Patrol and Mike Mignola's Hellboy and I wanted to make a postmodern superhero story," Gerard explained his inspiration behind it. "And then I wrote down all these things I was interested in and tried to make characters based on them."
