A new supply chain report from Digitimes today suggests that AirPower is alive and launched this year. The report does not offer specific details, but it says that AirPower will be available "later in 2019". "The choice of words here contradicts itself, but it is a good indication that the suppliers are still preparing for the availability of AirPower, despite the worries that Apple has canceled the product.
This information comes as part of Digitimes examining how AirPower will increase some vendors, including Lite-On Semiconductor, which reportedly supplied GPP bridge rectifiers for AirPower for the past year:
Today's report is the last part of AirPower Week's news. Last weekend's report shows that AirPower will come into production this month. In addition, Apple briefly mentioned AirPower in the description of the recently presented Smart Battery Case. Other mentions are also found on the Apple website.
Originally, AirPower was launched in 2018, but Apple missed this deadline and has not yet responded to the fate of the wireless charge. If the supply chain reports are to be believed, however, AirPower is still alive and healthy and comes this year.
