She said: “A lot of people have thought this over the years because he doesn’t want to be the center of attention at all.

“He’s just not who he is. He’s like a quiet, reserved man, and he thought that if he ever went out there, he’d never get a minute of peace, and he’s right about that.”
Throughout her career, Dolly has made a concerted effort to keep her husband out of the limelight.
And Jolin’s hitmaker insists he worked perfectly for the couple.

She told Entertainment Tonight: “I’ve always respected and valued him and I’ve always tried to keep him out of the limelight as much as I can.
He said, “I did not choose this world, I chose you and you chose this world. But we can keep our lives separate and together. And we do it and we have it. We have been together for 56 years, married for 54. “
Dolly actually thinks that not being “in the other person’s face” has helped their relationship.

She said: “Our joke about the fact that when people ask me why it lasted so long, I say, ‘Because you stayed. “And there is a lot of truth in this – the fact that we are not in person all the time.
“But we have a lot of respect and admiration for each other. We both have a great sense of humor. So we have a lot of fun.”
Asked how they spend their time together, Dolly explained, “We have very similar tastes … we like to travel around our little RV and we don’t like parties and all that.”
