President Trump attacked a reporter during a pool spray on Thursday, calling the journalist “light” after the president was pressured to lose the election.
Reuters White House correspondent Jeff Mason has repeatedly asked Trump if he would recognize the election. Trump interrupted him when the reporter tried to intervene and apologize, saying, “I’m the president of the United States. Never talk to the president like that,” before Trump said he would move on to a foreign issue.
Before addressing Mason directly, Trump began to give a long answer to the question, during which he repeated his allegations of election fraud and compared the election to those in a third world country.
Trump has been involved with Mason before. In September, the two had an exchange during which the president asked Mason to take off his mask while asking a question, which the reporter refused to do.
The Thanksgiving pool spray, in which the White House invites reporters to watch and sometimes ask questions of the president, was the first time Trump took questions from the press since Biden was named president earlier this month.
