Doom Eternal Switch has not been canceled, but is now a digital edition only

Earlier today, customers began announcing that GameStop was canceling pre-orders for Doom Eternal on Switch. IGN has learned that this is not the case because Bethesda has canceled the Doom Eternal Switch, but rather only the digital edition. A statement to IGN spokesman for Bethesda said

“While Doom Eternal is 100% up to date with the upcoming Nintendo Switch digital edition, the lack of a physical retail edition has led to canceled pre-orders.

They added, “Affected customers will receive a full refund and should contact their preferred retailer for more information.”

Doom Eternal was released on PS4, Xbox One and PC back in March, but the previously announced version of Switch will arrive a little later. Although the publisher has not yet announced the correct release date, pre-orders for Doom Eternal on Switch have been available to interested customers.

Bethesda says customers should keep an eye out for more information, “which will come later this month.” See the IGN review for Doom Eternal here for more information on Doomslayer.
