The doctor responsible for medical treatment of Britney Spears died suddenly, just weeks before a judge at her conservatory's office focused on receiving a report focused on appropriate treatment.
Dr. Timothy Benson died in Santa Monica, CA on August 24th. The cause of death has not been revealed, but sources tell us that the 48-year-old psychiatrist died of an aneurysm.
The time is considerable. Britney-related sources tell TMZ that the judge will receive a report within the next 10 days from a court-appointed assessor who has spent more than 3 months determining whether her medical and other care is appropriate.
Our sources claim that questions about Britney's medical care were raised during a hearing last spring. It's no secret … Britney's mother, Lynn is critical of Jamie Spears handling the conservatory and medical care her daughter receives. The questions revolved around the medication Britney was receiving because of her serious mental health problems.
The assessment was commissioned after raising questions over Britney entering a psychiatric facility earlier this year. Sources related to Jamie claim that the drug she was taking has lost its effectiveness and doctors are racing to find a new combination. But others say they were struck by what they felt was a sudden turn – they say that Britney is going full steam ahead with a new show and then suddenly they are all but incapacitated.
Some question Dr. Benson's expertise in the treatment of serious mental health problems. He has made a name for himself by working with NBA and NFL teams that inspire athletes to succeed. He is a certified psychiatrist, but in our opinion, some people in Britney's life believe that someone who is working full-time on serious mental health issues is needed.
The evaluator's report is only one question the judge is facing. As we reported, Jamie filed papers and will appear in court on Monday asking Judge to temporarily release him from his conservative duty until January, and appoint her case manager, Jodie Montgomery ] in the role of the conservative during the ytterium.
Jamie says he is sick and unable to perform his duties, but there is a bigger problem. He is forbidden to contact Britney's children after allegedly putting his hands on 13-year-old Sean . Kevin Federline filed a police report and the cops are investigating .
It seems amazing Jamie can be Britney's conservator until the case is resolved, since the conservator is ultimately responsible for the well-being of the children and this is difficult to do when you cannot interact with them.
Our sources say Monday's hearing should be bankrupt. We are told that there is no real objection to Montgomery's entry in the short term. But, depending on the report of the evaluator and how the assault investigation is going … Jamie's long-term prospect of remaining a conservative is up in the air.
