Thanking those who spoke with kind words and support throughout her recovery, DeGeneres expressed her desire to “embrace each one” of her fans.
“It would probably be dangerous and illegal,” the host joked.
The Ellen DeGeneres Show stopped production in early December on the last day of the seasonal event of the show “Twelve Days of Gifts”. As a result, DeGeneres invited the same audience to the show, which missed its gifts in December.
The presenter continued to tell the dramatic events on the set on the day she received the result of her test for COVID-19.
As she sat with her hair and makeup, the 62-year-old remembered her assistant, Craig, coming in to inform her that she had passed a positive test.
“And then everyone around me ran away,”
Following the news, DeGeneres immediately left the studio as her COVID security team informed anyone who had been in contact with the virus.
When one of the show’s executive producers, Andy Lasner, heard the news, Ellen said it was “literally running out of the batch at full speed.”
Following the news, DeGeneres was quarantined at home in a separate room by his wife, Portia de Rossi. For the first three days after contracting the virus, DeGeneres reported sleeping 16 hours a day, waking up with back cramps on the fourth day. When the pain continues, her doctor prescribes painkillers and muscle relaxants.
“Jackpot,” she joked. This thing pays off.
When the painkillers didn’t help, the doctors finally put DeGeneres on a steroid pack, which eventually made it easier to recover.
After experiencing the virus, DeGeneres informed its audience that although they did not know about it before, back pain is now a significant symptom of COVID-19. She has no other significant symptoms.
“I didn’t lose my sense of taste,” she recalls. “Although I wore crocodile socks for a day, so you’ll be the judge.”
Already fully recovered, the talk show host said she has not yet identified the source from which she infected the virus.
