“You feel like the world’s potential.”
Emily Ratajkowski is pregnant! The model, actor and writer announced that she and her husband Sebastian Bear-McClard are expecting their first child together.
EmRata shared the news in a beautiful and touching way, revealing the “silence” and “humility” that come with pregnancy, in an essay on Vogue, as well as in a video.
“We’re waiting for you, wondering who you will be,” she said in a short film directed by Lena Dunham and described as “the opposite of the baby message in People magazine.”
The video of couples flashing on Emrata’s growing pregnancy with her articulations about what it’s like for her.
“I want to see the world’s potential,” she tells her unborn child, adding, “You feel like the world’s potential.”
“I can’t wait to see who you will be.”
In her essay on Vogue, Emily talks about how her consciousness shifted during pregnancy and how insignificant the baby’s gender is.
When my husband and I tell friends I’m pregnant, their first question after Congratulations is almost always, “Do you know what you want?” “She writes. “We like to answer that we will not know the gender until our child turns 18 and that we will be notified then.”
“Everyone laughs at this. However, there is truth in our line that hints at possibilities that are much more complex than any genitalia our child is born in,” she explains.
Emily is much more focused on what her baby will be like: “The truth is that in the end we have no idea who – not what – is growing in my womb. Who will this person be? What kind of person will we become parents to? change our lives and who are we? “
“I am completely and unquestionably helpless when it comes to almost everything that surrounds my pregnancy: how my body will change, what my child will be like,” she added. “But surprisingly, they don’t bother me. Instead of being afraid, I feel a new sense of peace. I’m already learning from this person in my body. I’m full of amazement.”
Her sense of wonder is contagious.
