Epic Games pulls Fortnite YouTube announcements over child predators

Epic Games has temporarily suspended YouTube's advertising on the Fortnite freeze caused by the recent news that her ads are being shown on videos used by online predators to coordinate and exploit children.

] Verge announces that Epic pauses its ads before launching, the short ads that are broadcast before the platform's videos on YouTube, and reach the platform and parent company Google "to determine the actions they will take, to remove this type

The question arises from the fact that YouTube seems to facilitate the communication of child predators via its referral algorithm, as well as through the comments sections of seemingly harmless videos featuring small children. This is an issue that was highlighted by Matt Watson of Reddit earlier this week and is discussed later in the report on changes shortly thereafter.

"The recommended YouTube algorithm makes it easier for pedophiles to connect with each other, contact information, and link actual child pornography to comments," explained Watson's original post. "I can consistently access it from vanilla, never-before-used YouTube profiles through harmless videos in less than ten minutes, sometimes less than five clicks."

For example, these videos contain comments from child predators share time stamps designed to sexualize a child included in a video that, taken at face value, is not considered inappropriate content alone. Because such videos are simple and out of bounds, as advertisers for things like Fortnite are being launched prior to the start of the video, they are advertised by commenting predators suitable for AdSense as required by YouTube.

"Any content ̵

1; including comments – that threatens minors is disgusting and we have clear policies that ban it on YouTube," said a YouTube representative to Verge. "There is still more to be done, and we continue to work to improve and abusive abuses faster."

However, the issue is related to companies like Epic Games who usually advertise on YouTube. A deeper insight into how this kind of content is embedded in the platform can be found in the full text of The Verge.
