Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of the world’s most popular smart contracts platform, the Ethereum blockchain, has officially become a crypto billionaire.
Buterin’s etheric public address, which he described as his main portfolio in 2018, reached $ 1 billion on its balance sheet after Ether’s meteoric rise above $ 3,000 on Monday.
At the time of writing, the address contains about 333,500 Ether (ETH), which now costs $ 1.029 billion, according to Etherscan, as ETH has more than quadrupled from about $ 700 in early 2021.
At the time of publication, the world’s largest altcoin was trading at $ 3,1
According to some online crypto players, the 27-year-old Buterin may now be the youngest self-made billionaire in the cryptocurrency industry.

Amid rising prices, Buterin was generous with his cryptocurrencies. In late April, the Russian-Canadian programmer donated 100 Ether and 100 Maker (MKR) tokens to the COVID-19 Relief Fund for India.
