The wife of Labor Minister Eugene Scalia showed a positive test for coronavirus on Tuesday afternoon, officials said in an email Tuesday night.
Trish Scalia “has mild symptoms but is doing well,” the Labor Ministry said, adding that Secretary Scalia tested negative and had no symptoms of the virus. The agency did not specify whether Trish Scalia would isolate herself, but said: “The secretary and Ms. Scalia will follow the advice of health professionals to restore Trish and the health of those around them.”
Secretary Scalia, his wife and mother sat in the second row for the presentation in late September of Supreme Court nominee Amy Connie Barrett at the White House. President Donald Trump announced on October 1 that he and First Lady Melania Trump had tested positive and the president had spent three days in hospital being treated for the effects of Covid-19.
