Facebook has been working on creating augmented reality glasses for the past few years. According to CNBC, these goggles (codenamed "Orion") will not be additional to your phone – they are supposed to be designed to replace it entirely. They will reportedly be able to receive calls without being connected to a smartphone, and will display information in a "small display" that sounds similar to Google Glass. The glasses are also said to have a camera that can allow users to broadcast their followers and friends live.
CNBC stated that Facebook partnered with popular brand of Luxottica glasses, manufacturers of Ray-Ban glasses, to launch them in the next few years, probably between 2023 and 2025. Recent publication by claims that Ray-Ban will participate directly, but the fruits of his collaboration with Facebook will not be seen in "Orion," but on a completely different set of smart glasses, codenamed "Stella."
It is believed that they launch over the next few years, probably before "Orion", and like Snap Spectacles, Information says that they will they have a camera that lets users capture moments of their day and share them, and hopefully with Ray-Ban, they'll look better than the Spectacles.
