Another drug was added to the withdrawal of drugs used to treat high blood pressure.
Torrent Pharmaceuticals Limited recalls several batches of Losartan Potassium tablets, the FDA reported on Thursday.
Losartan is reported to be used for the treatment of hypertension. , left ventricular hypertrophy, and treatment of nephropathy in patients with type 2 diabetes.
The reminder states that "trace amounts" of N-methylnitrosobutyric acid, a known carcinogen, have been found in the drugs. as well as several others recalled last year.
The FDA warns that patients using any of the medicines included in the withdrawal should contact their doctor before completely discontinuing Losartan.
