Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade: Upgrades, Yuffie and everything you need to know

Yufi, the star of Intergrade.

A little over a year later Final fantasy 7 remake launched on the PlayStation 4, an updated version has already appeared PlayStation 5. Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade brings new visual upgrades to the already wonderful game and presents a new DLC episode featuring fan favorite Yuffie. We still don’t know much about Rework part 2 (such as how The Hobbit was divided into three films, Final Fantasy 7 is reworked into several parts), so this may have to overcome material hunters for a while.

Here’s everything you need to know about the weird title game.

What is Intergrade?

Intergrade consists of two parts. First, it’s a visually enhanced version of Final Fantasy 7 Remake (more on those enhancements below). The second part of the package is EPISODE INTERmission (strange capitalization courtesy of Square Enix, as usual), DLC content featuring Yuffie Kisaragi, a fan-favorite character from the original game. This DLC is exclusive to the PS5.

Last year’s Final Fantasy 7 Remake did not completely remake the PlayStation 1 classic, but rather reworked the first part of the game. Remake ends when Cloud Strife and the band leave Midgarwhich is before they meet Yufi. As such, the material thief was not included in last year’s game – which is why fans are excited to see her again.

What changes are made to the FF7 Remake?

Intergrade will add several features to Final Fantasy 7 Remake, most of which revolve around graphics. Square Enix says the textures and lighting will be improved – although how noticeable these improvements will be is questionable, as last year’s game already looked very good – and faster loading times. There are also:

  • Options between “Graphic mode” and “Run mode”. The first gives priority to 4K resolution, and the second – 60 frames per second.
  • Photo mode.
  • Haptic feedback via the DualSense controller.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake looked amazing on the PlayStation 4 – one of the best looking games I’ve ever played – but it had some small flaws, namely blurred textures. These textures are fixed in the Intergrade, resulting in fresh, wooden doors and visually enhanced flowers. This excites the fans.

How do I get the free upgrade?

You may or may not have heard that those who own the PS4’s Final Fantasy 7 Remake will receive a free upgrade to the PS4’s Intergrade. This is a bit confusing. You don’t get the whole Intergrade package, but rather you get the improved version of Final Fantasy 7 Remake. EPISODE INTERmission is sold separately as a DLC for $ 20. However, if you do not own the PS4 game, you can purchase the entire Intergrade package for $ 70.

Note that the free upgrade from PS4 to PS5 does not apply to those who downloaded Final Fantasy 7 Remake for free when it was a PlayStation Plus advantage.

What do we know about Yufi’s mission?

Yufi is on a mission in Midgar to steal precious material from Shinra, the main bad guys in Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Yufi is from Wutai, a region in the world of Final Fantasy 7, who fought a war with Shinra before the events in the game, so she was naturally with the megacorp.

Expect the DLC to delve into part of the story between Shinra and Wutai. Part of the war will likely be shown at Fort Condor, a mini-game featured in the DLC. (Those who remember Final Fantasy 8 and 10 mini-games know that they can start their own lives.)

You will play as Yuffie and the new hero Sonos.

Square Enix

Yuffie’s story unfolds during the events of Final Fantasy 7 Remake and the game’s creator said its story will leads directly into the true sequel to Remake.

DLC will present a set of new characters, including Sonon. He is Yuffie’s assistant in the game – a fellow Wutai warrior who trained with Yuffie’s father – who will also play as in battle. As Yuffie works with Avalanche, the cloud eco-terrorism group joins Midgar, and there will be new members from the group.

As for the bad guys, Weiss, who Final Fantasy fans will remember from Dirge of Cerberus, is back, joining his younger brother Nero.
