During all of this superiority, Motorola sits quietly on the sidelines. But that was not completely ruled out by the rumors –that he planned to release a folding phone. The company confirms that but it does not say whether it is really a new Razr.
The renewed Razr has the potential to be better than any other folding handsets. After all, before the smartphones were anything, Razr manages the industry with its emblematic design with a flip phone that can be pretty good for the emerging folding era of the phone. In January, the Wall Street Journal reported that Motorola revived the Razr brand with a new device of $ 1,500. Later, a patent application opened by 91Mobiles includes illustrations of what might be a new Razr phone.
Illustrations show a similar design as the original, but instead of dividing the interior space from a hinge dividing the display and the dial keypad, the "new" Razr will be a full display. The screen will obviously be flexible enough to fold in half, and the curved projection on the screen (when closed) will be hidden in the body of the phone.
If these markings prove to be accurate, Motorola uses a more practical approach than Samsung and Huawei. Instead of opening a phone to a tablet, Razr's small size still means it stays pocket-sized.
On Tuesday, the XDA Developers website shared what the Razr specifications were:
- Main Display: 6.2 inches;
- Storage: 64 or 128GB
- Battery: 2,730-mAh
- Colors: White, Black or Gold
Razr is only 2.2 inches. The 6.2-inch display is suitable for people who prefer small phone units with the widest possible screen. The processor is a curious choice. Instead of the Snapdragon 855, he uses the Snapdragon 710, which is on phones like Galaxy A8 and Xiaomi Mi 8 SE. It will be interesting to see how Motorola optimizes CPU
Like the original Razr,. This can offer a little more functionality with some Motorola applications such as Moto Display, Moto Camera and Moto action.
Razr is now a "folding" phone for success
Moto Razr is the first main phone. It was beautifully thin (about half a inch thick) with a shiny metal finish and tons of colors. When you hold Razr, he did not feel fragile or inexpensive, and placing it in your pocket was effortless.
Although folding handsets are the new "hot" thing, we really have no idea how this folding trend will come out, although it was released 15 years ago, Razr still has a lot of brand name and recognition. With its impact, more people would be interested in this phone not because of the foldable display but because it is a new Razr.
New leaks show useful software features on Razr
Last Thursday, XDA Developers shared some of Razr's alleged software features. One of these is the ability to use the external display as a trackpad when it unfolds. This is similar to One Button Nav on some of Motorola's phones, likewhich uses the fingerprint reader as a mini trackpad instead of the screen itself.
t The assistant will be a large part of the device and there will be a feature that will trigger it when you close the phone.
In recent years Motorola has a great reputation for using Android OS on its phones. As the Razr is not a "phone that turns into a tablet," it avoids the software chaos that both Galaxy Fold and Huawei Mate X have to struggle to make their devices easy to use. If Motorola delivers Razr with anything other than Android 9 Pie and several add-ons, it should receive a warm welcome.
When Motorola released the original Razr in 2004, it costs $ 450 with a service that is about $ 725 when it is adjusted for inflation. The new folding Razr could cost $ 1,500, according to the Wall Street Journal. This is more expensive than almost any other handset that is sold today.
But compared to the Galaxy Fold, which costs $ 1,980, and the $ 2,600 you are expected to pay for Mate X, Motorola Razr is a "deal" as far as folding hands go.
while Huawei also said it works on some. But there is still nothing fixed yet.
But again, Razr has a familiar name and design that can make people open their wallets. Motorola will also limit production to just about 200,000 units, according to the same report. This limited availability is likely to make more people take advantage of the opportunity on the phone.
Will something come out of this? Or all these rumors and drawings are just a fun fantasy? We will have to wait this summer to find out more. Check frequently when we update this story after more details are revealed.
