Fortnite fans have been treated to some surprising changes as part of Update 10.20.

The new Fortnite update is available for download on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, iOS and Android.

Accompanied by a server outage, Update 10.20 introduces a Borderlands crossover.

According to the 10.20 patch note update, the latest Rift Zone is based on Borderlands Pandora.

Part of the Fortnite X Mayhem collaboration, the Rift Zone carries Fortnite's Pandora rules, meaning players will generate a shield when they avoid damage.

Pandora will be available until September 10th.

Elsewhere, Epic Games reduced the spawning speed of BRUTE and introduced the new Shield Bubble element.

Screen balloon

• Rare items.

• Found from floor edges, cases, delivery drops and vending machines.

• Time in 30 seconds.

• The projectiles and explosives may be fired from inside the balloon, but may not project beyond it.

• The balloon radiator has 400 hp Destroying it deactivates the bubble.

B.R.U.T.E.

• The map icon for B.R.U.T.E. will remain visible to all players after the players have boarded one. The icon will follow the car as it moves.

• This is to raise awareness of the presence and location of B.R.U.T.E. for all participants in the match.

• B.R.U.T.E. the changes below were made between August 22-23.

• Reduced maximum number of rockets fired by B.R.U.T.E. with a single charge from 10 to 6.

• Reduced the speed at which missiles are fired by B.R.U.T.E. by 56%.

• B.R.U.T.E. no longer provides driver and passenger materials when trampled or hit in the environment.

• Returned the explosion radius of B.R.U.T.E. rockets back to their original range.

• We reduced the explosion radius by 42% in an emergency correction on August 22. In particular, this change felt like an overload, making it difficult for B.R.U.T.E to hit targets with less rockets and mobility. So on August 23, we returned the damage radius back (in basic modes) to where it was before August 22. We continue to carefully evaluate B.R.U.T.E. changes to make sure they meet our goals.

• As of v10.20, these changes are already available in Arena playlists and tournaments.

• Increased dash delay from 3 seconds to 5 seconds.

• Decreased speed gained from gain while in the air by 33%.

• Adjusts the variability of spawning speed for storm stages 1, 2 and 3. in basic modes

• Note: These adjustments do not affect spawning speeds in Arena playlists and tournaments. You can find these spawning speeds in v10.10 Patch Notes.

Bug fixes

• Fixed Junk Rift does not destroy BRUTE on impact.

Moving Storm

• Safe zones will no longer move as they shrink in the later stages of the match.

• Note: This change does not affect Arena playlists and tournaments.

• This change was implemented on 23 August.

Bug fixes

• Entering the sloping urban rift zone while using BRUTE no longer causes the screen filter and the build effect to remain after exiting the Rift zone.

• Killing by B.R.U.T.E. no longer causes players to enter downwardly, but not outwardly into which they can walk / run and cannot be revived.

• Fixed issue where members of the Horde would not attack BRUTE players [19659004] • BRUTE damage no longer counts as storm damage threshold

• Players inside indestructible buildings can no longer be damaged by an unwanted reef.
