Fresno County Coronavirus: COVID-19 Mega Vaccination Site to Be Opened at Fresno Fairgrounds, Health Officials Say

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) – The Fresno Fairground is now the first vaccination site for Super against COVID-19 in the county.

Health officials announced this today to help speed up the implementation of the shots.

These types of mass vaccination sites have been or will soon be open in other parts of the state, including Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles and Disneyland in Orange County.

All of this is part of the governor’s plan to speed up the vaccination process as quickly as possible.

Fresno County is joining other parts of the state to speed up vaccinations.

“Today, I can safely tell you that Fresno County is at the forefront of this vaccine distribution. We are not experiencing the types of problems you have heard about in counties around California,”

; said Fresno County Governor Steve Brandau.

As the state deals with record deaths from COVID-19, the fairgrounds are now open to first-line health workers to receive the shot.

Eligible recipients will enter the parking lot along Kings Canyon Road and go to the Ag building, where the vaccines are given Monday through Saturday.

The county said it aims to vaccinate at least 75% of its residents by the summer.

“This week, if you’re in healthcare, go down. Next week, if you’re in the adult population, then you’ll be right and we really want to keep those slots for that population. Then a week later we’ll start with our workers in food and agriculture, “said Frisno County Interim Health Officer Dr. Rais Vohra.

Fresno County has a population of just under a million people, with data showing that nearly 76,000 people have tested positive for coronavirus since the beginning of the pandemic.

The county plans to open more of these super sites soon to help make the vaccination process much more effective.

“By Friday, there will be five seats. Right now, the county is talking to 100 additional providers, and as we increase and receive more vaccines, we will be quick to get this into the hands of the public and those who need it most.” said Fresno County Superintendent Nathan Magsig.
