Frogwares begs people not to buy The Sinking City on Steam

After The Sinking City returned to Steam, Frogwares begged you not to buy it.

According to a tweet from Frogwares, the version of The sinking city for sale on Steam is not “created” by the team.

The studio has not released any additional updates on the issue, but it is probably related to a dispute between the developer and publisher of the game Nacon, former Big Ben Interactive (thanks, GI.biz).

As early as 2020, the studio withdrew the game from the market and terminated its contract with Nacon due to claims that the publisher owed money to achieve important events, as a result of which Nacon owns Frogwares nearly 1

million euros in copyright.

Last month, the game was returned to digital store windows following a ruling by the Paris Court of Appeals stating that Frogwares had terminated his contract with Nacon in a “manifestly illegal way”.

Last week, when the game was released on the PS5, Frogwares issued a statement saying it was both the developer and publisher of the version; however, the PS4 edition has a separate publisher and different game IDs. This is due to the ongoing legal and “technical situation”, which led to the lack of an upgrade to the PS4 platform.

We hope that the issue between the two will be resolved soon and Frogwares will provide more information about the version that is already available via Steam.
