Galaxy Fold, take two: Samsung's foldable phone is already on sale in September
Sixty-nine days after it was supposed to go on sale, Samsung announced a new window to launch the phone Galaxy Fold its first folding phone. Or rather, month of issue: September. And only in selected countries, as originally planned. Samsung said it would share specific sales dates as the month approached – we're supposed to be in August. With this announcement, the world's largest phone maker finally broke its silence for nearly $ 2,000 of the device, which was postponed from April 22 after reviewers reported screen interruptions, flickering and swelling
Although Galaxy Fold's pre-orders were sold on the first day, the phone was never officially put on sale, and the pre-order money was not collected. The CNET review unit did not break, although suffered minor damage to the screen . The step costs $ 1,980, which is about £ 1,500 or AU $ 2,800.
In addition to the new launch window, Samsung also said it has solved the problems that have made some reviewer phones fail first. Fixes include:
A secure top layer that extends beyond the frame, "indicating that it is an integral part of the display structure," rather than a dust shield that you would like to remove.
New "protective caps" to strengthen the upper and lower areas of the hinge zone, which have revealed natural gaps in which the particles can enter. Click here:

"We all in Samsung appreciate the support and patience we have received from Galaxy fans around the world," Samsung said in a statement. Samsung is also working on improving applications, the company said. The company added that it has conducted extreme quality control tests.
The new date of sales confirms that Samsung still has faith in the foldable future of the phone, even if some of its critics hesitate.
Together with 5G, next generation network technology, foldable phone designs. are potentially the most significant change in the telephone industry over a decade. At a time when sales are being made by heavy-duty manufacturers such as Apple and Samsung, the half-folded phone offers a radically new look. It also opens up new ways to use a device that has a screen size of a tablet in a large smartphone package.
The delay has raised concerns about the ability of folding handsets to achieve their promise of design, especially at such excessive prices. Huawei's folding phone, Mate X costs about $ 2,600 (2,300 euros). Samsung's own public concerns also question the desire of the rival of mobile operators to release their own folding handsets .
What happened to Galaxy Fold?
Galaxy Fold bends in the middle using a plastic screen, as folding glass screens are not yet available. Unlike the glass, the material is relatively soft. Samsung has strengthened it with plastic glue, which stopped at the edges, causing some reviewers to peel it off as it could protect you from a movie you find on some phones. Other reviewers have found that debris or dust has come under the display through the air gap between the phone screen and the hinge. Another felt one side of the screen that flashed, making Galaxy Fold unusable.
Although small and far away, Samsung is no stranger to catastrophic product launches. In 2016, he reminded Galaxy Note 7 twice in response to evidence that the battery could overheat to the point of fire. While Samsung has been gathering reviewers as expected by some reviewers, the Galaxy Fold screen problems have never been dangerous.
Three years after Reminder 7 recalls, Samsung is expected to release Galaxy Note 10 (confirmed) Unpacked Event on August 7 in New York.
