The Galaxy Watch 3 returns the physical rotating panel from the original Galaxy Watch and the Gear line before it, except that the edges of the panel are now smoother. This dial can be used to control the interface without touching the screen.

This is probably the biggest and probably the only difference between the new Watch and Watch Active 2, apart from the physical size. It has no new sensors and only a few new features that will actually be available at launch.

Like its predecessors, the Watch 3 has a built-in GPS, waterproof up to 5 atm for both indoor and outdoor floats and can track up to 40 different activities, seven of them automatically.

It also adds a new feature that lets you sync workout videos from the Galaxy Health app, so you get a prompt for each exercise on your wrist while streaming that video to your phone or TV.

The Galaxy Watch 3 will expand with the coaching feature introduced by Active 2, providing real-time feedback on pace and form. At the end of the launch, the watch will generate more detailed analysis, including your flight time and contact time, designed to help you improve performance and reduce injuries. It will also use maximum oxygen consumption (also known as Vo2max) to determine your level of fitness and recovery.

In theory, you will also be able to measure blood oxygen levels on demand, but this feature, along with post-release reports, will not be available at startup. Samsung says it will come through a software update later in 2020.

And these are not the only features that are TBD on the Watch 3. It is also equipped with an ECG application I just got permission in the US from the Food and Drug Administration, May signal when your heart rate may indicate atrial fibrillation (aka aFib), a serious heart disease that can lead to a stroke. There is also a blood pressure app that is still pending FDA clearance. In theory, both could be available on other Galaxy Watches such as Active 2, but the features have remained in the dream until now. Samsung has failed to provide a timeline for when these additional features will be introduced to US users – when launched, they will only be available in South Korea.

One of the new health features that will be available outside the bat is the new trip discovery, which works similarly to this. drop detection function of the Apple Watch (Series 4 and above). The watch will immediately notify you of an emergency contact if it detects that you have fallen heavily and will share your location.

The Galaxy Watch 3 is also designed to make sleep tracking more stable by analyzing the four stages of sleep and issuing a sleep score based on quality and duration, along with tips on how to improve. It can also track stress levels on command, like its predecessors.

Galaxy Watch 3 will be available in 41 mm and 45 mm options, both available in metallic silver or bronze finishes. The 45mm version will also be available in black and even titanium. The watch starts at $ 399 (£ 399, AU $ 649) for the 41mm Wi-Fi model and is $ 50 (£ 40, AU $ 150) more for LTE.
