Auckland A made very late returns this summer, but took care of the business early on Friday.
The A’s scored eight runs in the first three innings, then withstood a late charge from the Texas Rangers to withstand a 10-6 victory, in a game that included five total homers, 20 goals and a dozen walks between the two clubs.

The arrangement of A started working at the beginning of the 1st inning. Their first three bullies in the game went to load the bases, and then the cleaners̵
Oakland added in 2nd, a solo homer by Sean Murphy (his third in five games), Olson’s RBI single and a bag by Mark Kanya. Tommy La Stella joined another in the 3rd, Robbie Grossman hosted in the 6th, and La Stella brought home final insurance in the 9th just by making any contact with busy bases.
Betting on a huge early lead, A starter Mike Fears chewed six innings with just one run allowed. However, he stayed out of the 7th and Rangers finally reached him, organizing three rallies, all of which were loaded on him.
Texas picked up a few more against Oakland’s pen and returned it from 9-1 to close to 9-6, but failed to make the final push and A held on.
