ATHENS – Missouri coach Barry Odom said he knew his team would be challenged in some areas, but not to the extent that it turned out to be Saturday night.
"[Georgia] is better up close and personal," Odom said. "I knew they were good, but I think they are a little better than they can get credit for nationally. Georgia is as good and solid as the team I have stood against for a long time. "
The Bulldogs at No. 6 defeated the Tigers 27-0 on Saturday night – the first time Missouri was ruled out dating from a 34-0 loss to the Bulldogs in 201
Odom explained the decision not to play Kelly Bryant, who was named captain of the game but didn't make the moment in Georgia after suffering a knee injury in the Oct. 26 loss to Kentucky.
"Kelly is such a big kid and a huge competitor, (and) he wanted to play and feel as good as he can," said Odom, who predicted Bryant would be in the lineup against the Bulldogs on Wednesday. "But the percentage of being able to work and work and do the things you need in that position – I don't know that it would be wise to get him there."
Missouri supports Taylor Powell was 10 22, passing for 84 yards with interceptions, fired twice by Georgia's defense.
"I thought we did a lot of things," Powell said, "but it looked like every time
Most importantly, safety at Georgia's Richard LeConte had a 71 yard pickup and rebound in the second quarter. , which conveyed what little momentum Missouri could have become a crime. It was Georgia's sixth consecutive win over the Tigers, the Bulldogs leading the all-time series 8-1.
