Publisher 505 Games announces sequel to Ghostrunner under development for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X | S. The upcoming title doesn’t have a release window yet, but 505 confirmed that One More Level, the studio behind the original game, is developing Ghostrunner 2.
In a press release, 505 said it was doubling its investment for the sequel and contributing to its initial budget of 5m euros (about $ 6m) for its development. “Ghostrunner is a brand with great potential, able to contribute for a long time to the product portfolio of 505 Games,” said the publisher.
“We are particularly excited about the upcoming release of Ghostrunner 2. Together with One More Level, we have created an exciting and captivating video game,” said Rafaele Galante, co-CEO of 505’s parent company, Digital Bros., in a press release. .
The original Ghostrunner launched in October 2020 and achieved great commercial success for 505 Games, selling more than 600,000 copies on PS4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch. The game should be released on PS5 and Xbox Series X | S by the end of this year.
Ghostrunner has also won positive reviews from critics. GameSpot scored 7/10 and called it a “difficult parkour climb” in our Ghostrunner review. “When Ghostrunner tears, he really tears. Running on the wall, jumping, sliding and crossing enemies as you walk is empowering and impressive,” wrote critic Mike Epstein.
