Glass Cookers for Whirlpool, KitchenAid and JennAir

26,300 glass countertops – sold under the Whirlpool, KitchenAid and JennAir brands – were removed by Whirlpool on Wednesday, according to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Cookers represent a risk of burning and fire, but the recall of the note does not explain how the cookers come into play. Glass Cookers are manufactured from December 2016 to July 2019 and are sold at Lowe's, Home Depot, Best Buy and other stores from March 2017 to August 2009.

Whirlpool stated that it has received 133 reports of self-cooking hobs, resulting in 14 fire or heat damage signals. Two cases of minor burn injuries have been reported.

People who have these hobs in their homes are urged to contact Whirlpool to arrange the installation of a replacement hob free of charge. They were also told to turn off the cooktop of the switch and not to leave empty cookware or flammable material on or near the cooktop.

Go to the Consumer Safety Commission website for a complete list of model numbers and serial numbers of countertops affected by the withdrawal.
