Did anyone say the widget for Gmail?
I’ve become kind of addicted to gadgets since they were introduced to iOS 14 iPhone users. A large time widget takes up three-quarters of my home screen and helps me keep track of when to water my garden; my fitnessthe tracking widget gives me a bird’s eye view of where I am for the day; and a three elections survey widgets, well, that was definitely a mistake. Google is now releasing a bunch of new iOS 14 gadgets and updates for everything from Gmail to your calendar and device.
The company announced On Thursday, the new gadgets for Gmail, Google Drive and Google Fit will start appearing for iOS 14 users in the next few days. The Gmail gadget will allow users to quickly search their inboxes, view unread messages or compose a new email without having to open the application itself. Google Drive will display relevant documents and allow you to easily search your files again without having to bother digging through Docs or Spreadsheets or manually opening a Drive. And like Apple’s fitness device, Google Fit will help you keep track of your activity with point and step data at a glance.
The company also said that a new Calendar widget should arrive “in the coming weeks”, while the Chrome gadget, which includes search, incognito and voice search capabilities, is scheduled for widespread distribution in early 2021.
To activate these or other gadgets on your device, make sure you have the required application installed (even if it has been downloaded to your application library) and that your software is up to date. Then long press everywhere on the home screen and select Edit home screen. From there, select the + button in the upper left corner of the screen to launch widgets. Here are the new Google widgets. They weren’t immediately available to me on Thursday, so be careful in the coming days if you don’t see them right away.
Now can I get the Hue or Planta widget, please? Someone?
