The fantastic Google Recorder application, which uses AI and language processing, is targeting older Pixel phones officially with a "future update."
Google unveiled the Voice Recording application of the Made by Google event last month, but was unable to share any details as to whether it would officially get to older devices. You can currently upload an APK to get the recorder on almost any Android phone.
During a Q&A session on Reddit, a commenter asked why they could not currently use the recorder on their Pixel 3 XL. Almost 24 hours later, a formal response from the PixelCommunity poster confirmed that the Recorder will be getting to older Pixel phones with a future update (h / t Android Police ).
No further details on when it may be available or which Pixel models will receive the feature. We'll be surprised if it doesn't include all the pixels, although, as mentioned, older Pixel models can load the APK and use the new Google Recorder.
Even without any kind of specific release date information, this is still great news for anyone who has an older Pixel phone, as this is another Pixel 4 feature coming for previous generations. If you didn't already know, astrophotography mode is also set to target Pixel 3a and Pixel 3 soon. In even better news, you don't even have to wait: the APK is accessible from the APK mirror.
