Fossil, the creators of popular hybrid watches, has partnered with Google. The company announced that Google spends $ 40 million on fossil intellectual property
The deal will see part of Fossil's research team join Google to work on its own computer-related products such as Wear OS and the long-awaited Pixel Watch , Fossil says Google buys the smartwatch technology that the company is currently building, though it will not say exactly what technology is. "The addition of Fossil Group technology and team to Google demonstrates our commitment to the wearing industry by enabling a diverse portfolio of intelligent watches and maintaining the ever-evolving needs of a vibrant user on the go," said Stacy Berr, vice president of product management team at Google Wear OS.
The $ 40 million deal is a big deal for Google's future investment in the Wear operating system. Google's devices for Wear OS are obviously lagging behind Apple Watch and maybe the deal will help Google ahead. It is believed that the company is working with Wear OS's own smart clocks, and this new technology, currently being built by Fossil, can play a huge role in its success. So far it is too early to say.
