Graham claims Senate GOP has votes to reaffirm new SCOTUS justice before election day

Senate Republicans have enough votes to confirm late Supreme Court Deputy Judge Ruth Bader Ginsberg ahead of the Nov. 3 election, Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Lindsey Graham, RS.C., told Hannity on Monday.

“Obviously, if they [Democrats] they want a result, they will just ruin anyone’s life to keep the seats open, “Graham told host Sean Hannity.

“They said they tried to destroy Brett Cavanaugh so they could fill the space – they were dumb enough to say so,” Graham added. “I’ve seen this movie before. It won̵

7;t work, he hasn’t worked with Cavanaugh either.

“We have the votes to confirm the replacement of Judge Ginsberg before the election. We will move forward in the committee, we will report on the nomination outside the committee to the floor of the US Senate so we can vote before the election. This is the constitutional process.”

Protesters gathered in front of Graham’s home in Washington, DC, on Monday morning after he promised to move the Senate nomination process.

Graham’s critics cited his remarks after Senate Republicans refused to move forward on Barack Obama’s nomination for Judge Merrick Garland in 2016. As early as October 2018, the South Carolina Republican said: “And the main trial has begun, we will wait until the next elections. “

“After Cavanaugh, everything changed with me,” Graham told Hannity on Monday. “They will not frighten me, [Senate Majority Leader] Mitch McConnell or someone else. “

The presiding judge added that Trump’s candidate, who is expected to be announced later this week, “will be supported by every Republican on the judiciary.”

“We have the votes to confirm the judge, the justice on the floor in the Senate before the election,” he said, “and this is yet to come.”
