LONDON (AP) – A British zoo had to set aside five fake parrots that guards say encouraged each other to swear.

Billy, Eric, Tyson, Jade and Elsie joined the colony of 200 gray parrots at Lincolnshire Wildlife Center in August and soon discovered a penchant for blue tongue.

“We̵

7;re pretty used to swearing parrots, but we’ve never had five at a time,” said Steve Nichols, the zoo’s chief executive. “Most parrots go outside, but for some reason these five like it.”

Nichols said there were no visitors complaining about the parrots, and most found the situation ridiculous.

“When a parrot tells you to give up, it’s a lot of fun for people,” he said on Tuesday. “It brought a big smile to a really difficult year.”

Nichols said the parrots were separated to save the children’s ears. They were moved to different areas of the park so that they would not “ignite each other”, he said.
