It's no secret that too much salt is bad for health, but it doesn't stop many people from overdoing it with spices. As a result, a number of health organizations around the world have been calling for health warning labels on salt shakers, something similar to the warnings found on cigarette packs and cartons. These labels will be prominently displayed on the front of the product.
Unhealthy diets are responsible for millions of deaths each year, and scientists cite salt as one of the biggest offenders. Many foods, especially those that are pre-packaged or served in restaurants, contain high amounts of sodium. Consumers can add salt to these foods independently, increasing the sodium load and over time exposing the health of their heart.
Eating too much salt has killed more than 3 million in 201
Some countries, such as Ecuador and Finland, already require warning labels for products that contain large amounts of sodium, but such practices are not universal and in some cases it may be difficult for consumers to determine how much sodium in a particular food product. Health experts are therefore calling for the use of a warning label on the front label of salt and salt products sold in stores, which states:
"Excess sodium can cause high blood pressure and promote stomach cancer. Restrict your use. "
A number of health organizations have agreed to this recommendation, including Hypertension Canada, the World Salt and Health Action, the World Health Organization Collaboration Center for Salt Reduction, and others.
