Highlights for this week: Next-generation MacBook design, M1 iPad Pro and iMac performance, more

This weeks top stories: Standards for the M1 iMac and iPad Pro, rumors about the next generation MacBook Air, changes in iOS 14.6 beta 3 and more are appearing. Read about all the most important stories of this week and much more.

Next generation MacBook design

A new YouTuber report by Jon Prosser this week sheds more light on what to expect from the next-generation MacBook. The report explains that Apple will offer the next generation MacBook or MacBook Air in seven different colors, similar to the new iMac. The design is also not as sharp as the current MacBook Air.

Other auditory design changes include white bezels around the display, as well as a redesigned keyboard that is also white. Again, it̵

7;s not clear if this new design will come in a MacBook Air or a MacBook from some adjective. You can check the renderings right here.

M1 iPad Pro and iMac standards

Early tests for the M1 iPad Pro and M1 iMac appeared before the first orders arrived next week. Here are the details.

Single-core results:

  • M1 iMac: 1700
  • M1 iPad Pro: 1700

Multicore results:

  • M1 iMac: 7,400
  • M1 iPad Pro: 7200

As you can see, the results between the two products are quite similar, which is to be expected as they have the same M1 chip inside. With the first orders arriving to customers on May 21, we expect press embargo reviews to be published sometime next week.

AirPods 3 and Apple Music HiFi

An unequivocal rumor this week suggests that Apple may announce AirPods 3 and Apple Music HiFi in a press release on May 18. This comes after a report earlier this month showed that the messages were only “weeks” away.

The rumor comes from YouTuber Luke Miani. which says the AirPods 3 are now ready for delivery and Apple is expected to announce them in a press release on Tuesday. He also suggested that Apple could announce a new plan for Apple Music HiFi on the same day.

Whether this will happen remains to be seen, but we now have two reports showing that AirPods 3 and Apple Music HiFi may be announced this month.
