How does Dolly Parton keep fit? The iconic singer is not a big fan of going to the gym, but she has found her own way of exercising that combines fitness with her faith. Parton shared his unique training program during an interview in May for WSJ magazine My Monday morning.
Dolly Parton created her own workout routine
Parton is not interested in traditional exercises, but instead directs the energy of church service as he praises the Lord.
“I’m creating my own exercises for joy!” Parton told WSJ magazine when asked if she exercised. “I grew up in a Pentecostal church, where we used to shout a lot and jump around.”
“I keep my bike running in the morning when I just scream around the house praising the Lord,” she continued. “He gave me the idea to create some easy exercises and make music to combine with it. Something that even people in wheelchairs or people who are older or sick can do. “
Parton said she wants to do “something joyful when you’re doing something for a reason, not for yourself,” but she doesn’t do any formal weight training or cardio. “That’s the degree of my exercise,” she said. “I don’t like going to the gym … and I’m special about sweating.”
Dolly Parton can handle a little sleep
Parton never sleeps late and is often at 3 in the morning, living with the saying “go to bed early, get up early”.
“I’m usually around 3 in the morning,” she explained. “I just love the little hours. I actually go to bed early. But even when I work late on shows and concerts, I can wake up early. “
“I just don’t need much sleep!” Five or six hours and I can motivate, if necessary, three hours, “added Parton.
Parton also uses the early hours of his day for prayer. “I pray every day that God puts all the right things, all the right people in my life and brings out all the wrong things, all the wrong people, and guides me,” she explained. “That’s when I realized what I wanted to wear and what I wanted to achieve … and I have my cup of ambition.”

Parton shares his philosophy of low carb and moderation
As for the typical breakfast for the provincial superstar, she said she usually eats foods that don’t require much effort. During the week, she follows a low-carbohydrate diet, but believes that moderation is the key to a healthy lifestyle.
“I usually try to keep some homemade egg salad because I like to have something quick and easy,” she said of her typical breakfast food choices.
“During the week, I’ll eat things like an egg salad on toast with tomatoes, and sometimes I’ll drink a bagel with cream cheese, cucumbers and tomatoes,” Parton explained. “If I work, I’ll stay on a low-carb diet during the week and then eat whatever I want on the weekends.”
“I just look at moderation for the most part,” she added. “I tend to bid because I’m so short and because I have an appetite for a farmer’s daughter.”
