MEDIZON (WKOW) – Leonids, one of the most famous meteor showers, reached its peak on Tuesday, November 17.
Although the Leonids peak on Tuesday, the shower is active throughout the month.
Leonids are known to produce some of the most amazing displays. The most notable were in 1799, 1833 and 1966, when meteor speeds of tens of thousands per hour were observed.
However, 2020 may be a different case. This year the rain is expected to be light with long sections without a single meteor.

For the best chance to catch a glimpse of the Leonids, head to an area away from city lights without light pollution. Also, lie down where you have a wide view of the whole sky.
The forecast for viewing on Tuesday night is perfect, mostly clear skies.
It will be a bit cool, albeit low in the mid-20s.
In less than a month, we will have another meteor shower: the December geminids. Which are considered the best meteor shower of the year, producing over 100 per hour. The peak is on the night of December 13.
