Spotify is overhauling the “Your Library”
New options for sorting libraries
The “Your Library” section also now combines your music collection and podcast subscriptions into one searchable list. The default view shows your entire music and podcast library at once, but you can also tap to see only albums, playlists, artists, or podcast episodes. As always, you can sort your collection alphabetically (including creator names), recently played, or recently added.
For Premium subscribers, Downloaded switch the filters of your collection down only to content stored on your phone – a useful option when dealing with bad connections or limited data plans. All of these new sorting options appear at the top of the Your Library tab.
You can also switch to a new web layout that uses large thumbnails for artist photos, album art, and podcast logos. It doesn’t completely replace the standard list view, but larger images make it easy to quickly find an item in your library. Tap the grid icon in the upper right corner of the library tab to switch the new layout.
Along with the new web format and advanced sorting options, you can now pin content to the top of your library tab to get faster access to an album or podcast. The app allows you to capture up to four playlists, artists, albums, or episodes of podcasts at once, but you can also capture playlist folders for quick access to multiple playlists. To pin an item in your library, swipe right on the thumbnail and tap “pin”.
All of these new Spotify features are available for all iOS and Android users in the coming days. Be sure to check the Apple App Store and Google Play Store for upcoming app updates.
