- The renderings of the Huawei P50 seem to offer more details about its camera.
- You will get “only” 13-90 mm equivalent magnification, but many lenses.
- It is not clear when the P50 series will be delivered.
More details may have emerged about the apparently ridiculous series of cameras in the Huawei P50 series. The established Leaker Teme shared renderings showing what the close-ups of the P50’s camera system look like, including some possible new details.
The P50 display (probably Pro Plus) has a giant two-section camera seen in previous leaks, but the phone’s letters suggest it will have a 13-90mm equivalent magnification. This offers approximately the same magnification as its predecessors such as the P40 Pro and Mate 40 Pro (both 18-125 mm), but with wider overall angles.

Earlier rumors were that the base P50 comes with primary, ultra-wide and telephoto rear cameras. Pro will replace the telephoto lens for a 5X periscope camera, while Pro Plus will include both telephoto and periscope shooters. This may be Huawei’s first flagship phone to ship with Harmony OS instead of Android.
It is still uncertain when the P50 and its massive camera module will be available. Huawei introduced the P40 series in March 2020, but is clearly in no hurry to continue, when there is not even a teaser for the new model. The shortage of chips worldwide has also not helped the company’s plans. Although renderings suggest that the P50 is coming relatively soon, it wouldn’t be surprising if Huawei waits a while to release its stellar smartphone.
