President Donald Trump declared himself the Chosen One on Wednesday while defending his administration's actions in the ongoing US-China trade war.
The president's self-aggrandizing remark followed a number of criticisms directed at his predecessors. , whom he claims to have ignored China's alleged trade abuse.
"This is not my trade war, this is a trade war that should have taken place a long time ago," Trump told reporters outside the White House.
"Someone had to do it," the president said. He added as he looked to the sky, "I am the elect."
Trump continued, "Someone had to do it, so I take over China. I'm taking over China for trade, you know what? We win. "

The Trump administration is preparing to cancel new tariffs on Chinese imports worth billions of dollars. Trump has already imposed 25% tariffs on approximately 250 billion dollars, and commits to apply a 10% duty on all other Chinese imports by mid-December.
Some of these tariffs will come into force on September 1, while others have recently been delayed until December 15 to avoid harming US users during the holiday season.  Beijing backed off, taxing about $ 110 billion in imports to the US, and recently announcing that it would no longer buy American agricultural products.  Trump spoke before traveling to Kentucky, where he is scheduled to speak at an American convention veterans.
