ICYMI: An in-depth look at the Apple M1-powered MacBook Air

An eight-core chip based on ARM design, the M1 SoC will require developers to restore the software to take full advantage of its processing power. However, Apple has included a Rosetta 2 emulator in the M1 laptop, so users can still run older Intel x86-based applications. The physical build of the MacBook Air M1 is similar to its predecessor: a 2.8-pound lightweight with a sturdy body, a good-depth keyboard, and the same impressive 13.3-inch Retina display. The only features Devindra found missing were the 720p webcam and the number of USB-C ports.

In addition, the new MacBook Air is now a little cheaper than it started. Amazon cut $ 50 from the price of the 51

2GB gold model to $ 1,199. It’s not a huge discount, but it’s better than nothing on a brand new laptop.

AMD Radeon 6800 6800XT

Devindra Hardawar / Engadget

There was a lot of going back and forth in the AMD / NVIDIA battle over who has a place in compiling your computer, and AMD’s latest release is the Radeon RX 6800 line. Devindra Hardawar found two of the three new GPUs (RX 6800 and 6900 XT) for solid high-end competitors that provide excellent gaming performance and efficient cooling. All three cards feature the same RDNA architecture found in the PlayStation 5, as well as the Xbox Series X and Series S.

Both cards have more RAM than the competition: 16 GB of GDDR6 memory versus 10 GB found on the NVIDIA RTX 3080 and 8 GB of the NVIDIA 3070. Devindra found that the 6800 XT was incredibly fast, although it failed to beat the beam tracking performance of the NVIDIA card. Similarly, testing found that the RX 6800 was superior to the RTX 3070 and could easily handle 4K games – but again, the beam tracking performance left it smashed. Both the $ 579 for the RX 6800 and the $ 649 for the 6800 XT, both GPUs are clearly priced to compete with NIVIDA’s offerings.
