IDPH reports 423 new positive tests for COVID-19, 19 additional deaths

The Iowa Department of Public Health reported 423 new positive tests for COVID-19 and 19 additional deaths. At 10 a.m., the health department reported a total of 394,820 positive tests, 347,713 total recovery and a total of 5,950 deaths since the start of the pandemic. Twenty-four hours earlier, the health department reported 394,397 total positive and 5,931 total deaths. Iowa reported that 2,338,949 vaccine doses of COVID-19 were administered and 1,644,147 individuals had completed the vaccine series. Iowa’s 14-day positivity rate was 3.8% and the 7-day average is now 3.7%. The data from the health department show that a total of 4,816,518 tests were applied. There are currently 189 patients hospitalized with COVID-19, compared with 191 the day before. Iowa reported 44 patients in the intensive care unit and 18 patients on ventilators. One long-term care facility in Iowa reported an active outbreak of COVID-19. The health department reported 18 positive cases and 16 recoveries among residents and staff at these facilities.
